Bento alternative
Bento is gone.
Your page shouldn't die with it.
Bento shut down in 2025 and thousands of personal pages went dark. Kard is a different take on the same desire — a page that actually feels like you — with one twist Bento never had: you don't make one page for everyone. You make one per audience.
What's different
Not another link grid.
Bento's genius was making a personal page expressive — a bento box of you. But it was still one page for everyone: your boss, your date and your grandmother all saw the same grid.
Kard starts from the opposite idea. You fill in your real identity card once — tastes, dislikes, anecdotes, experiences — then generate a separate Kard per audience: one for a date, one for friends, one for work, one for family. Each has its own link, its own theme, and shows only what you chose for that person.
Expressiveness is still the point: 20 hand-crafted themes — from Sakura's floating petals to Terminal's CRT phosphor, Gazette's newspaper spread or Blueprint's millimetric grid — make each page feel designed, not templated.

Side by side
Bento vs Kard, honestly.
| Bento | Kard | |

| Model | VC-backed, then sunset | Solo, bootstrapped, subscription-funded |
| Pages | One public grid for everyone | One Kard per audience, each with its own link |
| Expression | Widget grid | 20 designed themes, 9 templates |
| Control | Public page | Private by default, revocable links (410 Gone) |
| Editor | Web | iOS app (iOS 17+) — pages open anywhere |
| Widgets & embeds | Yes | No — items, notes and photos, not embeds |
| Price | Free | Free tier · Plus at $14.99/yr |
The honest part: if your Bento was mostly embedded widgets — a Spotify player, a YouTube feed, a store — Kard won't replace that, and a link-in-bio tool will serve you better. If your Bento was you — what you love, what you've lived, what you want specific people to know — Kard is the upgrade.
Built to last
Why Kard won't pull a Bento.
Products like Bento don't die because users leave. They die because the company gets acquired, the team moves on, and the servers become a cost nobody wants. The pattern has a shape: venture funding, growth, exit, sunset email.
Kard has none of those ingredients. It's built by one independent developer, it runs on deliberately small infrastructure, and it's funded by the people who use it — a subscription, not an exit story. No investors means no pressure to sell, and nothing to sunset.
And if you ever want out anyway: your data lives on your iPhone and exports in one tap. Your shared pages are end-to-end encrypted — we couldn't read them even if we wanted to.
Also migrating from Read.cv? There's a page for that too.
FAQ
Before you switch.
Is Kard a drop-in replacement for Bento?
Not exactly, and on purpose. Bento was one public grid for everyone. Kard gives you one page per audience — a date, your friends, your boss, your family — each with its own link, theme and content. If what you loved about Bento was a personal page that felt like you, Kard takes that further. If you need embeds and widgets, Kard is not that.
Can Kard shut down like Bento did?
Kard is built by one independent developer, funded by subscriptions, with deliberately small infrastructure costs. There are no investors and therefore no acquisition-then-sunset scenario to fear. And your data is exportable at any time from the app.
Do my visitors need the app?
No. You create and edit from the iOS app; people you share with just open a web link — no install, no account. You can also reserve a handle for readable URLs like kard.you/you/date.
How much does it cost?
The free tier includes 2 active Kards, 3 templates and 3 themes. Kard Plus is 14.99 €/year or 2.99 €/month with a 7-day free trial, and unlocks unlimited Kards, 9 templates, 20 premium themes, custom slugs and watermark removal.
